What is Diuretics?
Diuretics are drugs directed to remove liquids from the body with urine. Their action is that they can slow salts and water absorption in renal tubules, increase formation and speed of urine output. It helps to reduce the content of liquids in tissues and to remove the edema.
Diuretics have the following actions:
- after taking a diuretic by the hypertensive patient, sodium salts are delayed in the body, excess water is drained after a while pressure becomes normal and lasts for a long time.
- due to diuretics intake, it is possible to normalize fundus pressure, as well as intracranial pressure.
- these medications can inhibit the action of neurons, thereby preventing attacks of epilepsy.
- individual drugs perform the function of protectors and become a kind of protection for kidneys and heart. Others can relax muscles, thereby relieving spasms in them.
- lower calcium content in blood, but retain magnesium. It improves microcirculation in kidneys and relieves stress from the left ventricle of the heart, protecting the organs from complications.
- they are able to alleviate patient’s condition who has been poisoned by toxic substances.

Torsemide | Diuretics |
| 10 to 20 mg once a day orally | $0.52/$46.80 |
What is Beta Blockers?
Beta-blockers reduce frequency and strength of heartbeat, reduce blood pressure. As a result, consumption of oxygen by heart muscle decreases. Since beta-blockers slow heart rhythm, the question of how these drugs can affect their physical activity arises in patients starting to take them. The answer depends on many factors, but mainly on the human condition. Only a doctor can estimate the effect of beta-blockers, but there are general provisions applicable to all people.
Table: Comparative Characteristics of Beta Blockers
Drug Name | Drug Type | Indications | Dosage | Price per Pill/Price per Pack |
Atenolol | Beta Blockers |
| 50 mg orally once a day | $0.40/$56.00 |

What areACE Inhibitors?
Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors are a group of drugs for hypertension that affects renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system activity. ACE is an angiotensin-converting enzyme that converts a hormone called angiotensin-I into angiotensin II. And already angiotensin II increases patient’s blood pressure. This happens in two ways: angiotensin II causes a direct constriction of blood vessels and also leads to the fact that adrenal glands release aldosterone. Salt and fluid are retained in the body under aldosterone influence. ACE inhibitors block the angiotensin-converting enzyme, as a result of which angiotensin II is not produced. They can enhance the action of diuretics, reducing body’s ability to produce aldosterone while lowering salt and water level.
Table: Comparative Characteristics of ACE Inhibitors
Drug Name | Drug Type | Indications | Dosage | Price per Pill/Price per Pack |
Vasotec | ACE Inhibitors |
| 2.5 mg per day | $0.45/$81.00 |
Prinivil | ACE Inhibitors |
| 20 to 40 mg per day | $1.20/$108.00 |
Altace | ACE Inhibitors |
